AN INTERVIEW WITH

Kayla Miller

Project Manager, Professional Services, joined NCR in 2021

Tell us a little about your career journey. What is your role at NCR and what led you here?

I am a Project Manager for Professional Services in retail, but I work specifically with Self-Checkout. I attended the HBCU, Florida A&M University and received my degree in mechanical engineering. I interned at NCR during the summer of 2020 as a presales engineer in banking. Although I was a remote employee, I fell in love with the people, the company and what they had to offer. During my last year in school, I became interested in project management when I was the leader of the project we were assigned in my senior design class.

“Although I was a remote employee, I fell in love with the people, the company and what they had to offer.”

How do you manage your work-life balance at NCR?

I am a strong believer that your personal life is just as important as your work life. There are things I do throughout the week and the year to make sure my life stays in balance. On Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunchtime, you can find me in the cycling class at EXOS in the NCR gym, taught by Preston. After that workout, I feel refreshed and ready to continue my day. I also am a big traveler. I use every single one of my vacation days throughout the year to explore and see the world.

“I am a strong believer that your personal life is just as important as your work life.”

What opportunities have you had at NCR that empowered you to grow or learn something new?

One of the biggest opportunities I have had at NCR was being able to join the board for WIN Atlanta. I have learned so much about the different areas of the company from the various people I have met by joining the Business Resources Group (BRG) Women in NCR (WIN). I also have become heavily involved with another BRG, the Black Professionals Forum as well. Working with them has allowed me to see the diversity that NCR offers and where there are opportunities to increase it.

How are you involved in the community outside of NCR?

Since I majored in engineering, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education is very important to me. On the weekends, I volunteer with Hands On Atlanta's Discovery program. On Saturday mornings, I help with immersing Pre-K to 5th-grade students in STEM education. They get to learn about the different STEM categories and then do an experiment or build something that they can take home after.

What inspires you to come to work every day?

The people that I have met at NCR are what inspires me to come to work. There are so many amazing and talented people that have helped me on my journey.

How are you helping NCR to transform, connect and run the business in your role?

I help NCR run the business by creating streamlined processes that allow everyone else to work more efficiently.
