AN INTERVIEW WITH

Munis Muniandy

Regional Talent Strategy Leader | APJ | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Tell us a little about your career journey. Where are you from?

I am from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I joined NCR in January 2021 during the pandemic from another MNC based in Belgium, Sibelco where I was the Learning and Development Senior Manager, APAC. Prior to that, I was the Learning Director in the largest bank in Malaysia, Maybank where my responsibilities included overseeing the learning and development space for 25K employees while also coaching the executive leaders there.

What is your role at NCR? What do you love most about your role?

I am the Regional Talent Strategy Leader with primary focus in APJ, EMEA and LATAM. My role requires me to be the conduit between the region and GHQ for providing solutions on talent, learning and leadership development for leaders in that geography. The thing I love most about my role is getting to support our leaders in developing their team members to create a bigger leadership pool and bench strength in NCR.

What makes you want to stay at NCR? How do you describe the culture of NCR?

The autonomy and freedom of expression I enjoy in discharging my role. I feel heard. I feel valued. I feel like I am part of a winning team doing meaningful work. The culture of NCR in one word – Empowered!

What impacted your decision to join the team?

What impacted my decision was the opportunity to make a difference to the leaders in the region I support — to listen, understand and empathize with what they have to say — to bring those concerns and actually do something about it.

How do you feel like you’ve grown either professionally, personally or both during your time at NCR?

I’ve grown massively in understanding different cultures, beliefs and ‘norms’ in the regions I support. My experience at NCR has given me new eyes and expanded my consciousness. It has allowed me to grow as a person, as a human being.

What are you most excited to see as a result of the IDEAS Council?

When we celebrate our differences, we have the opportunity to understand and appreciate them. Our fears, prejudices, and subjectivity we have about others becomes easier to navigate.

Outside of work, what are you most often doing/where are you most likely to be found?

I love the outdoors. I love hiking, the beach, the forest and islands…. I can’t get enough. I also love adventure sports: whitewater rafting, abseiling and Jungle Night Walks, where I come face to face with what I fear most.

What advice do you have for prospective candidates?

The really awesome experience surrounded by an empowering culture that shapes you to become bigger than who you are now allows you to discover yourself and your calling.
